Berna Berntzen

Meet Berna

My career started in 1992 when I qualified as a physiotherapist in Utrecht, The Netherlands. Physiotherapy and working with people have been a journey where I have never stopped learning and enjoyed that no day is the same.

Over the years I have travelled the world and have worked in different parts of England in both the NHS and the Private Sector.

Physiotherapy is a profession that encourages lifelong learning and I have completed courses in Sports Therapy, Manual Therapy, Muscle Balance and Pilates, Acupuncture, Taping. Working with different teams and individuals has given me an in-depth knowledge of most things’ physiotherapy. I have been involved in research whist working with the Rheumatology Team, where we looked at how resistance training improved Rheumatoid Arthritis outcomes. Since 2017 I have been working with Orthopedic Shoulder and Elbow Team, working together to give the best care, rehabilitation and outcomes.

Person-centred care enables people to make informed decisions that are right for them and empowers them to self-care for their long-term conditions in partnership with health and care professionals. Physiotherapists have an integral part in this to help you to reach your goals. I am passionate about getting you back to where you want to be, whether your focus is returning to work, sport or activity following surgery or injury.

I am a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP), the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Advanced Practice Physiotherapy Network (APPN).
