Clinic Director and Physiotherapist
Biography
Meet Matt
Physiotherapy… so why did I become a physiotherapist? My journey began in an unexpected place: a merchant bank in the City of London. After six fast-paced and rewarding years, I realised that making people money didn’t truly fulfil me. I wanted to do something that made a real difference in people’s lives.
A career leaflet on physiotherapy caught my eye, and it just clicked. A hands-on role, working with a wide variety of people and conditions, with constant opportunities to learn. I retrained, qualified in 1997, and I have been learning ever since, working in NHS hospitals, private practice and alongside consultants and Olympic medical staff.
Over the years, I have learnt that people are remarkable. Each person is different, and recovery is never one-size-fits-all. I take time to listen carefully, observe closely and use my hands to make meaningful changes. I also know that physiotherapy is often just one piece of the puzzle, and that collaboration between practitioners can make all the difference.
That is why Courtyard Clinic in Malmesbury is so special to me. We are a rehabilitation clinic in Wiltshire with a brilliant multidisciplinary team, all bringing their expertise together to help people feel better—often better than they expected. From sports injury physiotherapy to long-term musculoskeletal rehabilitation, our goal is to help clients not only recover but return to doing the things they love with confidence.
As Co-Director with Jo Turner, I want Courtyard Clinic to continue to be a place where clients do not just recover, but exceed their own expectations. Making people happy by making money never truly drove me. Making people happy by helping them move again? That is something else entirely.
